Plants

From the Garden

The rear garden was the focus of activity last spring with all the paths re-laid and lighting introduced to the darker parts. We also took the opportunity to vastly improve mobility by creating a new footpath with a lower gradient.Following this the upper lawn was rebuilt with new walls & drainage with the pond receiving a new stone fountain with planters.

From the Grounds

The work on the planters at the entrance has now been concluded for the time being and greater focus is now being attached to the mile long drive down to the hotel - where the old stumps were dispatched! All of the Evergreens have now been removed and the road widened and banks grassed. Many of the banks were planted with bulbs this Autumn - 33 sack loads to be precise so bring on the Spring! Also the banks to the south of the hotel have also been concluded with a recent sewing of grass maturing. The intention to create a bird watching walk has now been realised with all year round access to the lake now in place. In the Autumn we created 3 new scrapes lakes to help with biodiversity (more bugs = more plants = more mammals & birds = more bugs .....) and these will grow during 2006.
